: You should be able to open the vents up if you like. I run my car with the open Stillen ducted panel and that terrible splash guard that obstructs airflow removed and I haven't had a single problem in nearly 3 years of everyday driving. For the first 2 years I ran a Uni-Filter and recently fitted a HKS pod. :  I'm not sure how it would be on your NA but I can't see how water would get past the filter, be turned into steam by the turbo, cool down in the intercoolers and make it back up through the throttle bodies and into the cylinder in enough volume to do damage. Unless of course you drove it through a river.
